(FORT WORTH, TX) – Prayers are going out for a Fort Worth Police Officer, shot overnight while confronting a robbery suspect.

Officer Garrett Hull and several others were an running undercover operation on suspects at Los Vaqueros Sports Bar in south Fort Worth sports bar.  Fort Worth Police say the officers were following a “robbery crew” they believed were responsible for 15 robberies.

Shortly after midnight there was an exchange of gunfire between the officers and three men.  One of the suspects shot Hull in the head.  Other officers returned fire, killing the man.  Fort Worth Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald says Hull is in critical condition at John Peter Smith hospital fighting for his life.

Mayor Betsy Price put out a tweet early this morning asking for prayers.  Hull is a 17 year veteran of the Fort Worth Police Department.
