Two North Texas counties get disaster declaration

(Austin, TX)  – A state of disaster exists in three Texas counties because of flooding.  Two of them are in North Texas

Governor Greg Abbott issued a declaration for Tarrant, Ellis, and Sutton counties, authorizing all available state resources to deal with the crisis.  Flooding began on September 21st after record-breaking rain caused at least two deaths in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.   Nearly a foot of rain has fallen in the past week and there is more rain in the forecast.

Abbott said “This Disaster Declaration will ensure local officials and Texans affected by these storms have what they need to respond. I thank our first responders for keeping communities safe when disasters strike, and I encourage all Texans to be prepared for severe weather.”
