(TOLAR, TX) – A 120 year old school house in Tolar has been designated as a historic landmark by the Texas Historical Commission.
The Hood County News reports The Panter Branch School has been chosen to receive an official Texas Historical Marker. The two-room schoolhouse sat on a 25-acre plot. In 1898 the school had two teachers and 42 pupils. The school is still standing. The marker site is on Hill City Highway south of Tolar.
A dedication ceremony with Hood County elected officials and members of the Hood County Historical Commission will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27th at the Tolar Community Center.
