(FORT WORTH, TX) – After five days of deliberation, a Tarrant County jury handed a Cleburne Mom jail time, for faking illnesses to doctors and withholding food and water from her young son for years.

42-year-old Danita Tutt was sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of attempted murder and one count of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury.  Prosecutors say Tutt managed to convince doctors to perform unneeded surgeries on her son Colby.  She could have received up to life in prison.  Once released from jail, Tutt must also serve 10 years’ probation.
