(Cleburne, TX) – Johnson County has taken their war on drugs to the courtroom.
According to the Cleburne Times Review, the County has filed a lawsuit against New York pharmaceutical Purdue Pharma and others who manufacture and sell opioids. Also named in the suit are CVS Health, Walgreens, Wal-Mart and Dr. John T. Dang of Cleburne. The suit sites the opioid crisis and an increase in overdose deaths in Johnson County as the cause. The County is seeking damages of more than $1 million but less than $100 million.
Johnson County sits above average in opioid prescription rates, according to the suit.
