(Glen Rose, TX) – A Glen Rose woman has pleaded guilty to the July shooting death of her daughter.

57-year-old Catherine Bise was sentenced to 5 years in prison with credit for the time served in the Somervell County Jail.  In a jail house interview with Texan News, Bise said shooting her daughter, 28-year-old Claire Bise was a mercy killing, because she suffered from a genetic disorder that left her in constant pain.  She said her daughter wanted to die, so Bise shot her in the head, then called police.

Prosecutor Dale Hanna said, “It’s tragic situation, but under the state of Texas law, it’s still a murder.”
