(Fort Worth, TX) — A number of local fire departments are involved in the effort to send hundreds of Texas firefighters to battle the wildfires in California.

A Cleburne firefighter, another from Stephenville and two from Parker County joined fire crews from Fort Worth, and several other North Texas communities who hit the road on Monday.  Gov. Greg Abbott announced on Sunday that 200 firefighters and 55 fire engines are being sent from fire departments across Texas.

The firefighters are expected to be gone for about two weeks and others could be sent if rotations are needed.
