(Austin, TX) — The Texas Department of State Health Services is warning about the dangers of giving your baby a honey-filled pacifier.
The agency says four babies in Texas were treated for botulism after being given honey-containing pacifiers from Mexico. One was from North Texas. Doctors say babies under the age of one don’t have the immunity necessary to fight off bacteria in honey. Botulism is a serious illness that attacks the body’s nerves. It can cause paralysis or even death.
