(Austin, TX) — A Bedford representative is filing a bill which would allow anyone who legally owns a gun to carry it without a permit.

Republican Representative Jonathan Stickland tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram constitutional carry is popular within his district and is a legislative priority for the GOP.  Texans can openly carry long guns without a license, but Stickland’s bill would apply to handguns and not require the current License to Carry.

A spokesperson for the Brady Campaign says the proposal isn’t as popular as Stickland believes.
