(Fort Worth, TX) – Flu cases are on the rise in Tarrant County.
The Fort Worth Star Telegram reports MedStar crews have already responded this year to three times as many patients with flu-like illnesses as they did during the same period last year. MedStar says they have treated 226 patients with influenza like illness since Sept. 1st. That’s compared to 44 people during the same period in 2017. The ambulance service says many of those cases were in far east Fort Worth.
Health officials are strongly encouraging residents to seriously consider getting vaccinated for the flu. Many pharmacies offer a free flu vaccination with insurance including Target, CVS, Walgreens and supermarkets.
