Chain reaction crash smacks Fort Worth patrol car

(Fort Worth, TX) – A Fort Worth police car was struck Monday night while responding to an accident on I-20 near Campus Drive.

According to NBC5, it happened about 9:30 p.m, one person was hospitalized after six vehicles, including an officer in a patrol vehicle, were involved in the crash.  Police said, the first vehicle headed westbound, swerved to avoid a street sweeper truck and hit a second vehicle and was then T-boned by a semi-truck. The driver of the first vehicle was hospitalized in critical condition.  A responding officer, who parked the patrol car inside the flare lines, was then rear-ended by a third vehicle before a fourth vehicle rear-ended the third vehicle.  The driver of the third vehicle was detained on suspicion of drunk driving.  No officers were injured.
