(Weatherford, TX) – Parents of some students at Weatherford High School believe the school district tried to hide a disturbing incident.
Apparently, a noose was found tied around a staircase at Weatherford High School last month. According to the Star Telegram, parents didn’t find out about it until a photo of the noose surfaced Wednesday on social media. Parents say district officials and the school tried to hide what happened.
Weatherford ISD has since posted a statement on its website in response, saying the incident happened in early December, that they were aware of the photo, and that the student responsible had been identified and dealt with.
Here’s the statement from WISD:
Weatherford ISD is aware of a photo of an inappropriate incident that was posted on social media today showing a noose hanging from the upper level outside of the Durant Auditorium at Weatherford High School. This photo is from an incident that occurred in early December. The student that was involved was immediately identified and consequences were enacted according to the WISD Student Code of Conduct.
We encourage anyone who is aware of any inappropriate actions or comments related to our schools to immediately contact a school administrator so the matter can be fully investigated and addressed.
