(Denton, TX) — Former World Series MVP John Wetteland has been arrested in North Texas on child sex abuse charges.
Denton County Jail records say the 52-year-old was taken into custody Monday, then released on $25,000 bond. He’s accused of sexual assault of a child under the age of 14 over a two-year period. The allegations go back to 2004. The victim is reportedly a family member who was 4 at the time.
Wetteland played 12 seasons in Major League Baseball winning a World Series with the New York Yankees in 1996 before joining the Texas Rangers in 1997. He’s the Rangers all-time saves leader with 150 and a member of the Ranger’s Hall of Fame.
