(Fort Worth, TX) — There’s a new plaque in Fort Worth that commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s only visit to the city in 1959.

City officials on Monday unveiled the plaque as part of the Heritage Trails Walking Tour.  More than two-dozen other bronze markers on the tour describe the history of Fort Worth.  The annual MLK Day parade followed the dedication of the marker.  The plaque is across from the JFK Memorial, a block north of the Convention Center.  It marks the former site of a theater on Commerce Street where King delivered a sermon.
