(Austin, TX) — The Texas Supreme Court is considering whether the state will be required to identify the source of the state’s execution drug.

Three lawyers with clients on death row want the state to name the pharmacy that supplied the Texas Department of Criminal Justice with pentobarbital in 2014.  Lower courts have rejected the prison system’s claim that identifying the supplier would put the company in danger.  Arguments before the state Supreme Court started on Wednesday.
