(Cleburne, TX) – The Johnson County authorities are putting out a warning about a new phone scam.
The Sheriff’s Office says they’ve received several complaints about someone who apparently is making phone calls impersonating a former employee asking for personal information. The scammer claims to be Lt. Tim Jones, however Jones no longer works for the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators say the fake cop is telling victims to meet him at various public locations and bring a money order if they don’t want to go to jail.
The Sheriff’s Office says if you get one of these calls, do not give out your personal information, just hang up and call police to report it.
