(Austin, TX)  —  Texas veterans who are furloughed or working without pay are getting a break from the state.

The Veterans Land Board is letting vets who are federal workers and haven’t been paid because of the shutdown stop making payments on home and land loans.  The board voted unanimously this week to suspend payments until the shutdown is over.  Eligible veterans can apply to their loan companies for a break on payments up to six months or 30 days after the shutdown ends, whichever happens first.
