(Arlington, TX) — The Texas Rangers’ new playing field will be surfaced with a new kind of artificial turf when the ballpark opens next year.
Globe Life Field will be the first Major League stadium in many years to open with an artificial field. Georgia-based Shaw Sports Turf has developed a durable synthetic grass made partly out of coconut husks and fibers. They call it B1K, which stands for “batting a thousand.” The billion-dollar stadium will be open for the 2020 season.
