(Fort Worth, TX) – The commute for drivers between Azle and Fort Worth just got a little better with the partial opening of the $580 million expansion of State Highway 199.
TxDOT opened up a five mile stretch of the new roadway Friday through Lakeside. The 199 expansion through Northwest Tarrant County is part of Texas Clear Lanes project to improve traffic, make roads safer through reduced congestion & by setting barriers in the median. When completed, the rebuilt freeway with no traffic lights will run from Western Center Boulevard to White Settlement Road.
TxDOT is working the project in four stages with construction of the final phase expected to begin in 2024.
