(Washington, DC) — Energy Secretary Rick Perry was the so-called designated survivor during President Trump’s State of the Union address last night.
The former Texas Governor watched the speech from a secure undisclosed location, away from the Capitol. One member of the President’s Cabinet is always tapped as the designated survivor in the event of a national tragedy involving the President, Vice President and members of Congress.
Gov. Perry made two unsuccessful bids for the Republican nomination for president in 2012 and 2016.
