(Rhome, TX) — It’s being called a horrific case of child abuse. Two kids were taken to Cook Children’s Hospital after being found locked up in a dog kennel at a home in Rhome.
Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin says the children were found when deputies responded to a domestic violence call. Akin also says two other children were severely malnourished and covered in filth. The children are ages five and under.
The Wise County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old Paige Harkings and 24-year-old Andrew Fabila are both charged with child endangerment. The children were checked out at the hospital and are now in foster care. Harkings is also charged with aggravated assault for reportedly attacking Fabila.
