(Grandview, TX) — Dozens of neglected cattle are being tended to after being rescued from a ranch in Johnson County.

A tipster alerted deputies on Thursday to possible animal cruelty in Grandview, near FM 916 and CR 204.  After serving a search warrant on Friday, investigators found livestock that were in bad shape, and deputies seized 46 head of emaciated cattle.  There were 47 at first, but two had to be put down, and one of the cows had a calf.

The cattle have been given medical treatment and are being housed and fed as the investigation continues.
