(Austin, TX)  —  Some of the most conservative lawmakers in the Texas House are working together as the Texas Freedom Caucus.

Members said on Tuesday that they’ll be focusing on school finance reform, reducing property tax hikes, limiting abortion, protecting the integrity of elections, and keeping border security fully funded.  Opposition to gun control is another priority.

Mayes Middleton, a GOP representative from Wallisville, says the Freedom Caucus supports “constitutional carry,” under which law-abiding citizens can carry a gun without a permit.
