(Fort Worth, TX) – The City of Fort Worth activated in the Fort Worth Emergency Operations Center to deal with the sudden wave of problems from the icy roads and weather conditions.

Fort Worth Fire Department tweeted between 4 – 10am it had responded to 90 MVAs, including a FWFD support unit that was involved in a rollover on Chisholm Trail and McPherson Blvd.  Fort Worth police reported that between those same hours, officers responded to more than 200 accidents.   At one point this morning, Tarrant County’s ambulance service Medstar says crews responded to 46 injury crashes on area highways since 4a, 12 of those were rollover accidents.

The winter weather forced the FAA to call for a ground stop at DFW Airport.  The airport tweeted that some flight times were impacted and advised travelers to check with their airline.

Johnson County emergency responders also reported their fare share of accidents and closures along Hwy 67 and the Chisholm Trail Parkway throughout the morning commute.
