(Stephenville, TX) – The race for place 5 on the Stephenville City Council has gone from three to two with the withdrawal of one of the candidates.

Citing a medical issue as the reason, candidate Carey Boynton announced that he is dropping out of the race.  Boynton told the Empire Tribune that he was hospitalized last month and “Due to this event in my life, I have decided at this time to withdraw from running for city council.”  Ricky Thurman and Bradley Oglesby are the two remaining candidates still in the race for place 5 currently held by Rhett Harrison who is not seeking re-election.

Early voting in the May 4 election runs April 22-30.
