(Weatherford, TX) – The Texas Historical Commission has recommended Weatherford’s Main Street Program for national recognition.
A press release from the commission says Weatherford’s “successful annual progress in carrying out national performance standards for a Main Street community” earned the recommendation. Weatherford’s program is one of 68 to be nationally accredited later this month at the Main Street Now conference in Seattle.
Weatherford joined the Main Street Program in 1987 and organizers say since then, the program has brought in new businesses, jobs and attractions. The City says the program has also helped promote tourism in Weatherford.
