(Stephenville, Tx) – Petitions are being passed around in Erath County to get a liquor referendum on the November ballot.

The measure would eliminate the need for private club permits, paving the way for liquor sales in Erath County.  The Stephenville Empire Tribune says the group behind the petitions, “Citizens for Responsible Beverage Laws” needs 4,400 signatures of registered voters within the next 60 days to get the measure before voters this fall.  Several restaurants in town have the petitions available.  Only registered voters can sign.

Once collected, the petitions will be submitted to Erath County Commissioners’ Court and if approved, placed before voters in November.
