(Cleburne, Tx) – Over the weekend, thieves hit the new Meals on Wheels of Johnson and Ellis Counties distribution facility in Cleburne, taking electrical equipment and copper wiring.
To make matters worse, the culprits also broke off water faucets and tried to flood the building. Officials say the vandals did not get inside the facility, which has only been open for six months. Police say several nearby businesses were also vandalized that same night. Johnson County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information on the crimes.
Meals On Wheels says they don’t have money in the budget to fix all the damage and install new security equipment because it would take away from the services they provide to seniors. Donations are being accepted for a “Safety and Security Fund”.
