(Irving, TX)  —  The Irving, Texas Police Department is trying to return a New York police officer’s award from more than 100 years ago to his family.

The badge-shaped award turned up recently in a pawn shop owned by a board member of the Irving Police Athletic League.  Officials are putting the word out on social media that they’re looking for the relatives of the officer who won the NYPD’s “Most Popular Policeman” award in 1914.

Anyone wanting to claim it has to give the name engraved on the back and provide proof of being related.
