(Springtown, Tx) – Parker County Firefighters rushed into a burning home to rescue an 83-year-old Springtown woman during Tuesday night’s violent storms.

Investigators believe a lightning strike during the storm sparked the fire that trapped Gelena White in her bedroom.  Thick smoke was coming from the house when La Junta Firefighters arrived to find White in a wheelchair in her bedroom.  A 911 dispatcher had stayed on the phone with her until first responders got there.

White is expected to be ok.
