(Austin, TX)  —  Texas breweries may soon be allowed to sell beer out of their taprooms.

The state’s current system involves brewers, distributors, and retailers, with breweries not permitted to sell bottles or cans of their products on site.  The Texas Craft Brewers Guild says Texas is the only state in the country where people can’t buy beer from a brewery.  A House bill to make the change had been languishing since February, until it was tacked onto a different bill as a rider last Thursday.

It passed the House and will now go to the Senate.
