(College Station, TX) — The state gets the proceeds from a winning Powerball ticket, since the deadline to claim the prize has passed.
The Texas Lottery says the winning Quick Pick ticket was sold at a Valero Corner Store in College Station late last October. The ticket was worth two-million-dollars, but the buyer didn’t claim the prize by the six-month deadline, which was last Thursday.
Unclaimed Texas Lottery prizes go to the state, to be spent on programs authorized by the legislature, including education and veterans’ services.
