Castro Won’t Challenge Cornyn For U.S. Senate

(Washington, DC) — Congressman Joaquin Castro will not be in the running for the U.S. Senate next year.

The San Antonio Democrat announced on Wednesday that his focus is on the House of Representatives, not unseating Texas Republican Senator John Cornyn. Castro says the next office he runs for will likely be one that takes him back to Texas. Castro’s announcement means MJ Hegar is the only high-profile Democrat challenging Cornyn.
