(East St. Louis, IL)  —  Ezekiel Elliott is planning to pay for a murdered East St. Louis middle school student’s funeral.

Multiple reports say the Cowboys running back wants to help out the family of Jaylon McKenzie after he was shot and killed last weekend.  Elliott is from the area and Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports he did it because he through McKenzie’s death was senseless.

Illinois State Police do not believe McKenzie was the target in the shooting.
