(Joshua, Tx) – The Humane Society of North Texas is hoping that an interest in Triple Crown horse racing will help find homes for more than 60 donkeys and thoroughbred horses, being kept at its ranch in Johnson County.

It’s part of the ASPCA’s “Help A Horse Home Challenge”.  The Humane Society says they hope to find permanent homes for the 60 plus horses and donkeys, during open house events held in conjunction with the upcoming Preakness and Belmont Stakes.  HSNT says the animals up for adoption came from owners who could no longer take care of them or were transferred from equine rescue groups wanting to save the animals’ lives.

The events take place from 10 a.m. to noon this Saturday and again June 8th.  The Ranch is located at 1099 CR 910, in Joshua.
