Street Near AAC May Be Renamed For Dirk Nowitzki

(Dallas, TX) — The city may rename a Dallas street for retired Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki.

Three city councilmen say they’d like to see Olive Street in front of the American Airlines Center renamed Nowitzki Way. The councilmen point out that Dirk spent his entire 21-year NBA career with the Mavericks, and they say that sort of loyalty should be rewarded. Nowitzki retired at the end of the 2019 season. The first committee meeting to discuss the change will take place early next month.

The change could become official by this fall.
