(Fort Worth, TX) — A crime bill named after a murdered Fort Worth college student is awaiting Gov. Greg Abbott’s signature.

Molly Jane Matheson was a student at Tarleton State University’s Fort Worth campus when she was raped and murdered two years ago at her apartment near TCU.  House Bill 3106, known as Molly Jane’s Law, aims to identify violent repeat offenders before they can strike again by enhancing the investigative process.

Molly’s suspected killer, Reginald Kimbro, reportedly raped and murdered another woman in Plano days after Molly’s death.  Kimbro has been charged with Capital Murder, the Tarrant County DA’s office is seeking the death penalty.
