(Fort Worth, Tx) – Memorial Day weekend is typically the start of boating season for many North Texans, however this year the record rainfall is causing a change of plans.

The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers says lake levels are high and the subsequent flooding has forced the closure of some boat ramps and parks.  For example, the eastern half of Grapevine Lake is closed because of flooded trails.  Boat ramps and the horse trails are closed at Benbrook lake.  The boat ramps are also closed at Joe Pool Lake, Lake Whitney and Lewisville Lake.  Only the marina is open at Eagle Mountain Lake.

On the bright side, the Brazos River Authority says their lakes are open for business this holiday weekend.  The BRA says although they’ve received a lot of water from recent rains, all boat ramps and parks are open at Possum Kingdom Lake and Lake Granbury.
