Mount Vernon ISD Hires Former Baylor Coach Briles

(Mount Vernon, TX) — Former Baylor head football coach Art Briles is coming back to Texas to coach high school football.

Mount Vernon ISD announced on Friday that it had hired Briles to coach the Mount Vernon High School Tigers. Baylor fired Briles in 2016 as the university dealt with a sexual assault scandal involving some of its football players.

Briles says he started out as a Texas high school football coach and is happy to get back to his roots.
