Tornado Damage Reported Near Canton

(Canton, TX) — Residents of Canton are picking up the pieces after being hit by at least one tornado on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service says the East Texas town was hit by one confirmed tornado and perhaps as many as three. The twister destroyed homes and tore the roofs off buildings in the Canton area. The storm also took down trees and power lines. So far there are no reports of serious injuries.

Despite the tornado, a post on Facebook says the grounds at First Monday Trade Days sustained no damage and will go on this weekend. A devastating tornado struck the area two years ago.
