(Austin, TX)  —  A change in state law will soon allow Texas customers to have alcoholic beverages delivered along with dinner or groceries.

Gov. Greg Abbott signed the bill into law on Monday that permits restaurants and bars to deliver alcohol along with food to homes or other locations.  Customers who order alcohol must be 21, show ID, and sign receipts.  Alcohol orders can only be delivered by drivers 21 or over.  And the alcohol must be sealed in its original containers, such as cans or bottles.

The law takes effect on September 1st.
