(Austin, TX) — Texans are now allowed to hunt feral hogs without a license.
Gov. Greg Abbott signed a bill on Friday that had been overwhelmingly approved by the state legislature. Feral hogs do millions of dollars’ worth of damage to crops in Texas every year and are sometimes even a problem in the suburbs.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department says there are more than a million-and-a-half wild hogs in the state. The law goes into effect on September 1st, but be advised, these animals are fast and mean, they bite, and they aren’t afraid of people.
