(Granbury, Tx) – Potential flooding along the Brazos River prompts Hood County officials to declare a disaster.

Thursday night, Hood County Judge Ron Massingale signed an emergency disaster declaration just ahead of a third flood gate that was opened up to release water from Possum Kingdom Lake.  The order includes the cities of Granbury, Tolar, DeCordova, Lipan and Cresson.  Officials believe the high water will affect the neighborhoods of Rolling Hills Shores and Arrowhead Shores and urged residents to leave the area.

Parker County also issued a disaster declaration in preparation for possible flooding in the Horseshoe Bend community.

The Brazos River Authority expects the river to crest on Saturday afternoon.
