(Stephenville, Tx) – A 19-year-old man has been charged with last month’s shooting of a woman in Bluff Dale.

According to the Stephenville Empire Tribune, Erik Matthew Bentz was charged Tuesday with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  Bentz reportedly shot a 19-year-old Granbury woman in the early morning hours of June 22nd after a night out on the town with friends in Stephenville.  An Investigator with the Erath County Sheriff’s Office says it all started when two groups of people randomly met up in a convenience store parking lot.  The suspect’s vehicle began chasing the car the victim was riding in.

The Tribune says by the time they got to Bluff Dale, shots were fired, and the woman was hit once in the hip.  The victim was taken to Granbury Medical Center, she has since been released from the hospital.  Bentz is reportedly from California but works at a ranch in Gordon.  The Sheriff’s office says more charges may be filed in the case.
