(Stephenville, Tx) – Two men have been arrested in Stephenville in connection with a string of thefts from gas pump credit card skimmers.
According to the Stephenville Empire Tribune, the break in the case came about 3 p.m. Monday when employees at a CEFCO station on Lingleville Road located a skimming device on a gas pump after customers complained that the keypad wasn’t working. Police say security cameras showed two persons of interest purchasing gas and manipulating the pump where the skimmer was located. An officer patrolling Lingleville Road spotted the suspects’ car leaving a CEFCO gas station and pulled them over.
Police say, “Several electronic skimming devices, various gift cards and charge cards were recovered”. Two Hispanic males in the car were arrested for intent to commit credit card abuse. This was the third report of skimming at a Stephenville area gas station since May.
