(Fort Worth, Tx) – A Fort Worth legend is about to be immortalized in bronze.
Poet, actor and western singer, Red Steagall is getting a statue in the Stockyards. The sculpture titled “Red Steagall, Always Ridin’ for the Brand in Fort Worth, Texas” was given the ok by the Fort Worth City Council last month and made possible by donations through The Friends of Red Steagall. The nearly life-size bronze artwork, depicting Steagall on horseback, will be placed in front of the Cowtown Coliseum.
Among his many honors, Steagall was inducted into the Texas Trail of Fame in 1999, the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2005 and named poet laureate for the State of Texas in 2006.
Red Steagall’s Cowboy Corner program can be heard every Sunday morning 6-7a on Hank FM.
