(Granbury, Tx) – The Lake Granbury Conference Center operations manager has been fired and charged with theft.

The Hood County News reports Brandon Kyle Smith has been charged with theft over $750 but less than $2,500 and could face up to one year in jail.  The investigation began at the end of June when an internal audit revealed $1,700 was missing from the safe at the city-owned Conference Center.  Smith was reportedly responsible for the money inside the safe and the only person who had access to it.  Granbury PD investigators say Smith admitted he stole the cash after the “CATSFEST” event on May 25th.

Smith was fired earlier this month after serving only 19 months on the job and later turned himself in to authorities.  Before coming to Granbury, Smith worked at Billy Bob’s Texas for nine years and, prior to that, the Fort Worth Cats Baseball Club.
