(Mineral Wells, TX) — Mineral Wells isn’t declaring itself a “sanctuary city for the unborn” after all.

Mayor Christopher Perricone had wanted an agenda item at Tuesday’s city council meeting to create an ordinance banning abortion providers from doing business in Mineral Wells.  Before members of the public could speak, council members went behind closed doors to discuss whether such an ordinance would be constitutional.

The Mineral Wells City Attorney advised against the action, saying the ordinance would be in conflict with federal law.
