(Glen Rose, Tx) – A retired military veteran, has started a petition to legalize the sale of alcoholic beverages and mixed drinks in Somervell County.

According to the Glen Rose Reporter, Ray Jones says he started the petition because he’s had a long-time dream of opening a distillery near Chalk Mountain.  But Jones adds it’s also to help the county gain tax revenue money from the sale of alcohol.

He needs 1,300 signatures by Saturday, July 27th in order to get the measure on the November election ballot.  So far, Jones has about 200 signatures.
