Suspect Uses Child As Human Shield During FW Hostage Situation

(Fort Worth, TX) — It’s not yet known whether a man in a Fort Worth hostage situation was killed by police or fatally shot himself.

Police say the man had been holding several children hostage at an apartment complex, including one he used as a human shield, but none of them were hurt. After the SWAT team showed up, one of the officers shot the suspect, who later died at the hospital. Police were originally called to the apartments on Broadmoor near Calmont by a woman who claimed a man was in a unit with a gun.

No officers were injured. The standoff is still under investigation.
